The organizational move strengthens the DCC’s alignment with Berkeley’s community and resource centers while maintaining its connection with the Disabled Students’ Program.

The Disability Cultural Community (DCC) Center is officially joining the Centers for Educational Justice & Community Engagement (EJCE). Originally housed in the Disabled Students’ Program, this coordinated move responds to student advocacy and recognizes the DCC’s role as a community and cultural center where disabled students and community members can advocate, educate, and collaborate among students, faculty, and staff living with a disability to advance and empower both the community on campus and beyond so persons with disabilities can fully learn, work, and live with dignity.

Bringing the DCC into EJCE will more closely connect the center with Berkeley’s broader network of community and resource centers and make its place within that network clearer for students navigating campus resources and their sense of belonging.

We are grateful to DSP and its staff for supporting the DCC since its inception and helping the center grow into what it is today. Their partnership and commitment to Berkeley’s disability community have been integral to the DCC’s development and will continue to be an important part of its work.

The DCC and DSP will continue to work closely together. Students seeking disability accommodations and related services will continue to access those resources through DSP, while the DCC will continue its focus on community building, education, and cultivating opportunities for connection and belonging.

We look forward to strengthening these connections and continuing to support Berkeley’s disability community through this next chapter.
