How long have you been at Berkeley?

I am thrilled to have joined UC Berkeley six weeks ago and I am eager to contribute to and ensure the institution's inspiring mission and principles of community.

What do you love most about working here?

I am deeply inspired by the commitment to equity and excellence that permeates the culture here. What I love most is the opportunity to contribute to the mission of an institution that is shaping future leaders. Specifically, I value the collaborative spirit of my colleagues and the passion of our diverse students. Being in a role that directly supports the financial foundation of dynamic and impactful programs across Equity & Inclusion is incredibly fulfilling. Every day, I get to see how sound financial planning translates into real-world support for our diverse communities.

What's your job?

As a Senior Financial Analyst for the Division of Equity & Inclusion, I play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and strategic planning of the division's diverse programs and units. My responsibilities include developing and managing complex budgets, conducting financial analysis to inform decision-making, forecasting future financial needs, and ensuring compliance with university and sponsor/donor policies. I collaborate closely with department heads and budget managers to translate their mission-driven goals into sustainable financial models, ultimately supporting the institutional commitment to equity and excellence.

What's a great day at work look like for you?

A great day at work is one where the numbers truly tell a story—and it’s a good one! I thrive on seeing our financial planning align perfectly with our mission. It usually involves a productive morning of deep-dive analysis, perhaps uncovering a new efficiency or resource allocation strategy that will directly benefit an Equity & Inclusion program. I love those 'Aha!' moments in a spreadsheet, knowing that every dollar optimized is a step toward shaping a more equitable future. Exceptional teamwork with a colleague over a complex budget forecast is always a highlight, followed by a truly collaborative meeting where financial strategy and programmatic vision merge seamlessly. And, of course, no great day is complete without that satisfying feeling of having translated complex fiscal realities into clear, actionable, and mission-aligned advice. But first thing is always first - for me, no great day at work starts without a nice cup of green tea in my favorite pink hand-made mug!

Where's your favorite place on campus?

I'm still discovering all the hidden gems on campus, and I'm genuinely thrilled about the exploration! So far, though, Sproul Plaza is an absolute favorite. It's truly the heart of Berkeley—a vibrant hub full of the free exchange and engaging interactions of students' sociopolitical views and extracurricular interests. You can't beat the energy there!

Fun fact about me:

I’m deeply passionate about music and the performing arts. I love to sing and have performed in several plays and musicals, and in another life I’d absolutely be a Broadway star! I play the viola, violin, and piano, dabble in guitar, and have my sights set on learning the cello and saxophone next.
